Journalist sentenced to death

23 year old Afghan journalist Parwiz Kambakhsh has been sentenced to death in Balkh province for distributing an internet article on verses of the Qur’an relating to women’s rights. The sentence is in accordance with Article 130 of the Anglo-American sponsored Afghan Constitution, and reflects the alliance of the occupying forces with the religious-fascist Northern Alliance.

MIM leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi said that anyone who committed blasphemy deserved to be beheaded. “Muslims are proud of what our legislators and workers have done, because we can never tolerate any insult to Prophet Mohammed,” Akbaruddin, whose party has five legislators in the 294-member Assembly, told reporters.

“If she comes to the city again, we will kill her”, added Muqtada Afsar Khan, one of the three MIM legislators who attacked the writer at a book release function in the press club.

Funnily enough, MAB's own Inspire publication once asserted, in an article on “Islam and Human Rights” that apostasy from Islam is either “a religious offence punishable by death” or “an act of mutiny or treason, that is punishable” as such.

An Apostasy Act has been sent by Pakistan's National Assembly to a Standing Committee for approval. Proposed by Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (the MMA is a coalition of Islamist groups, including the Jamaat-e-Islami, whose representatives serve on the Muslim Council of Britain via the Islamic Mission and the Islamic Foundation).
